Computer | Device Requirements
- Any modern desktop, laptop, Chromebook, or tablet capable of running a current web browser
- No specific hardware specifications, minimum RAM, or processor requirements beyond what is needed to run a modern browser
- No local software installation or licensing required
Browser Requirements
- A current version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge
- JavaScript and cookies must be enabled
- Pop-up blockers may need to allow the SkilRedi domain for certain interactive features
IT Support Needed from Institutions
- None required for day-to-day platform use – no client software, VPN, or local configuration needed for standard learner access to SkilRedi.
- Institutions using managed networks, firewalls, web filtering, or secure web gateways may need to configure their security systems to meet the HTTPS/TLS security and domain allowlisting requirements outlined below.
- Ensure campus network and content filters do not block
skilredi.com, YouTube, or CloudFront domains for students accessing the platform. - Password reset emails will be sent from
support@skilredi.com. This email address cannot be blocked. Some email filtering services may also need to be trained that the SkilRedi sender is legitimate. - No student-facing helpdesk burden is anticipated beyond standard “can’t access a website” troubleshooting.
Network | Connectivity Requirements
To ensure secure access and full platform functionality, institutional networks must permit outbound HTTPS connections over TCP port 443 using TLS 1.2 or higher (TLS 1.3 recommended) and allow outbound access to the required domains listed below.
HTTPS and TLS Security Requirements
SkilRedi uses HTTPS to encrypt communications between users’ browsers and the platform.
- Minimum supported TLS version: TLS 1.2
- Recommended TLS version: TLS 1.3
- Unsupported protocols: TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1
Organizations using firewalls, web filtering, SSL/TLS inspection, or secure web gateways should ensure their network security infrastructure supports TLS 1.2 or higher.
Modern browsers automatically negotiate the highest mutually supported TLS version. No additional browser configuration is typically required.
If users experience secure connection errors, institutional IT administrators should verify that their network security equipment supports the required TLS protocols and modern cipher suites.
Domain Allowlisting Information
The application will operate on any standard broadband or campus internet connection. Outbound access to the following domains is required for full platform functionality and best performance:
| Domain | Purpose |
|---|---|
*.skilredi.com | Platform access – login, coursework, and LMS functionality |
*.youtube.com *.googlevideo.com *.ytimg.com | Primary video playback – course video content. **See content delivery table below for alternate video delivery options |
Institutions using content filtering or firewalls will need to allowlist these domains for the platform to function correctly. For specific details on our content delivery, the section below provides charted examples alongside our content delivery hosts.
Content Delivery | Whitelisting
If that is not done, content may not load/download, may display incompletely, or fail during playback. This chart explains the issues you may experience alongside the respective CDNs.
| Content or service | LMS symptoms when blocked or disallowed | CDN hostname(s) |
|---|---|---|
| Application static files | LMS pages load without styling, buttons or controls are missing, JavaScript errors occur, or the application is unusable/incomplete | d74c0ispqdjmb.cloudfront.net (Alias: grove-cdn.skilredi.com) |
| Course content (combined) | Handouts, ePUBs/documents, including video failover and content images | dyc2fk5rut1yw.cloudfront.net (Alias: courses-cdn.skilredi.com). This is a new CDN host which will eventually replace all below hosts |
| ePUB content | An ePUB or digital reading activity fails to open, download, or render | d1xka2xwd42sl.cloudfront.net |
| Content simulations (VR interactive elements) | A simulation does not open, remains blank, fails to initialize, or interactive elements do not respond | dv5ksudzjuyue.cloudfront.net |
| Content video failover | A video fails to start, stops unexpectedly, or does not play when the primary video delivery path is unavailable.Cause: YouTube video is blocked on your network. | d2ce30gi4ryrv7.cloudfront.net |
| Document content | A document fails to open, preview, download, or render in the LMS | d2q60xul1c3un3.cloudfront.net |
